Kerri, her new husband Joey, and their children settle into a family routine at their central Texas home, contending with daily challenges that befall any blended family.
On the east coast, Kerri's younger brother, Ken, fights to keep his confidence in God while dealing with a physical disorder that is taking its toll on him. The outlook is bleak. If he recovers, but is unable to work, Ken’s position as an Air Force officer stationed at the Pentagon would be in jeopardy, with the possibility of a medical discharge. Should death take him, he would leave behind a young and devastated family. They are left with numerous 'what ifs', and only God knows the final outcome.
In the same time-frame on the West Coast, Cathy, Kerri's sister, who recently moved to Seattle, also deals with an emotional upheaval. Her fiancé hangs at death's door from injuries sustained from the long-predicted earthquake of 'epic proportion' that toppled that city. This left her all alone in Seattle to face an unforeseeable future, and wondering if her Christmas wedding would take place as scheduled.
Kerri must now make a momentous decision - should she give up her holiday with her new family to travel to Seattle in support of her sister?
The story's characters, in dealing with untimely circumstances, are not uncommon to you and me. The differences are in how some people handle them. They either face situations with the Lord's guidance or throw in the towel and claim defeat.
